A TRIP TO SUGAR CAKES

ORIGINAL PASTEL
8"x10" La Carte Paper

Prior to our visit to see the Celebrating
Georgia Women Artists Show at the Marietta/Cobb Museum, (Karen won 1st place for pastels...congratulations)
Jayne and I stopped for coffee at a wonderful Patisserie named
Sugar Cakes. The pasteries were so gorgeous that we just had to
photograph them for a future painting. Today, Jayne and I painted these delicious goodies and can't wait to return to sample more. See what Jayne ordered by visiting her blog at Jaynebpastels.blogspot.com

MY NEIGHBOR, CHARLIE

ORIGINAL PASTEL
8X10" La Carte Paper
Karen gave a wonderful
demonstration on the technique
she uses to paint her beautiful cats.
After the demo, we all tried out hand
at this technique. It was lots of fun and
I hope Charlie likes his new look!

ORIGINAL PASTEL

This was painted on a
heavily textured piece
of gatorboard. I was
trying to get alot of
ground texture without
using individual stokes
of color.

NEST FIVE

Study in Orange and Yellow Number 2

Original Pastel
4" X12"

This was a fun piece to
paint since it was totally
freeing to paint the background with a wash and let
the colors run and drip at will, then when it was dry,
use your imagination to create a scene!

Study in Orange and Yellow Number One

Original Pastel
8"x8"
Experimenting with different
techniques is always fun. This is
done on gatorboard, painted with
a very wet acrylic wash that ran
freely on the board. After it dryed
the board was coated with clear
pumice gel and it was time to begin
the painting!

WHERE THE BUFFALOS ROAMED

Original Pastel
Wallis Paper 12"X6"
As a child, my sisters
and I spent countless
hours looking at the
clouds and playing the
"cloud game". I am
still fascinated by the
formation and the
images formed by
the clouds!
